Branding changes coming across Panthers organization

In less than 24 hours, the Florida Panthers will have a new logo and uniforms on display to the world. On Thursday evening, the club will unveil its new look during a fan event at BB&T Center in Sunrise, Fla.

The big reveal is expected between 7 and 8 PM ET tomorrow. And for those of us who can't be in attendance, it will be streamed.

But the whole thing will be made somewhat less exciting by the leak of the new logo back in April. A trusted source confirmed its accuracy to Icethetics.

So what else do we know ahead of the unveiling? It sounds like the Panthers will have at least two new logos to show off in addition to the leaked primary.

The secondary mark (shoulder patch) lines up with previous reports, according to my source. Sounds like it's a shield design inspired by the Florida state flag with a prowling panther walking through the middle.

There's also a new alternate logo in store that seems to be an update of the existing leaping panther. The design of the face has changed to more closely match the new primary mark but the body remains mostly the same, likely with some tweaks.

In fact, my source seems to be under the impression that a new throwback-inspired third jersey could be party of the reveal tomorrow. If so, I think it would be the first time an NHL team has ever released three brand new sweaters at the same time.

But wait, there's more! The headline was about changes across the Panthers organization. That includes their AHL affiliate.

After the Falcons were relocated to Tucson, the Portland Pirates, Florida's affiliate, were purchased by a group in Springfield to fill that gap. The Panthers then signed a new affiliation agreement with that team on May 23.

The question now is what Springfield's new team will be named. Will they keep the Falcons or go with something new? Not even the ownership seems to know at this point and they want fan input before they move forward. The franchise is conducting an online name-the-team contest from now until Friday.

However...

Probably a good call.

I'm not sure how long we'll have to wait to hear what the new Springfield team will be called, but it could be a while since all this just happened in the last week.

For now, we have the Florida Panthers to satisfy our desire for new logos!
