The Islanders' third jersey makes its game debut in a 5-4 loss to the Montreal Canadiens.

NYI Point Blank (blog) learns the Islanders are considering making their new third jersey the primary sweater in a year or two.

The Islanders unveil their new alternate sweater at the Islanders Business Club meeting. Past and present players Bobby Nystrom, Josh Bailey, Mike Sillinger and Clark Gillies are on hand to model the new jerseys.

Newsday gets details from the Islanders regarding the unveiling of the new alternate sweater. Members of the Islanders Business Club will see it first after their meeting on Monday, October 27. The jersey will then be on display to fans in the arena during the game that night.

The Islanders make an official announcement on their web site regarding their intentions to unveil the new third jersey on Monday, October 27. The statement says "the Islanders will skate in a game wearing a completely new uniform—including a new jersey, pants, helmet, gloves, and socks." The Isles will wear the new sweater 15 times this season.

A clock appears on the Islanders' web site counting down to the "3rd Jersey Debut" on Saturday, November 1. It is later be removed and replaced with a countdown to the home opener. After the season starts, the third jersey clock returns.

An Islanders customer service representative confirms via the team's official message board that the Isles will have a third jersey this season. He says no release date has been set but the Isles will post something on their web site at some point.
