The Hurricanes post a teaser image of the third jersey on their web site. It's a black and grey version of their primary hurricane logo and appears to be the shoulder patch of the new sweater.

The Hurricanes announce via their web site that the new third jersey would be unveiled on Wednesday, September 10 at a news conference. Fans and media are invited. The statement says the new sweater will be worn for 15 home games and will go on sale at Caniac Carnival on Sunday, September 21.

A day after posting it online, The News & Observer publishes in print the information they've obtained regarding the Hurricanes' third jersey unveiling from GM Jim Rutherford. Rutherford declines to comment on the design but says the debut of the new sweater was pushed back when the Rbk EDGE Uniform System was introduced.

The News & Observer learns that the Hurricanes will unveil their new alternate jersey on Sunday, September 21 at Caniac Carnival and that it will make its game debut on Monday, October 13 when Carolina faces Detroit. The jersey is expected to be black with the secondary flag-waving logo on the front.
