0420: Rocky Mountain Classic

This Winter Classic Weekend takes us to the Mile High City for an outdoor match-up between the Colorado Avalanche and the St. Louis Blues — only designer Mike Bell has the Avs sporting a Rockies-inspired uniform. The Rockies trace their lineage to today's New Jersey Devils. Not sure the Avalanche would be wild about that notion. The Blues sweater is pretty neat though. This obviously would no longer be an option for 2014, but maybe 2015?

0381: Reintroducing Red

For more than a decade, red was part of the St. Louis Blues' color scheme. It's been gone since the late '90s, but Mark Mozdziez is looking to bring it back with his concept. Think it works?

0322: Waddell's Winter Classic, Part 9

On this Winter Classic Weekend, we head to the Central Division. The Waddell Brothers have created 30 fauxback style jerseys — one for every NHL team — and we're taking a look at them, two at a time, every Saturday. And every week, you get to pick which teams get posted. Last week, Redneck was first to comment and he picked the Blues and Blackhawks.

Next week, we're taking a brief break from the Waddells to look at a different Winter Classic concept, but they'll be back in two weeks. So if you want to choose which two teams will be up at that point, be first to comment on this post!

0259: Blues in Gold

Since the NHL officially canceled the 2013 Winter Classic yesterday, I don't think it's appropriate to have a Winter Classic Weekend concept today. So here's a St. Louis Blues jersey set from Chance Waddell. By the way, Chance isn't suggesting a gold home jersey for a team called the Blues. These are road and third jersey options if the Blues were to make their current third their home uniform.

By the way, got a really cool University Sunday concept for tomorrow, complete with a time lapse video of the designer creating it.

0203: Winter in the Midwest

Got a couple of items to share on this Winter Classic Weekend, but we're looking beyond 2013 for this one. If recent history is any indication, the Blackhawks will soon find themselves back in the outdoor spotlight, and when they do, Wade Hermann suggests they sport something like what we see above.

As a bonus, we have this update to a Blues concept posted last month. Chance Waddell originally designed a blue one but has since added a vintage white version to match.

0168: If the Blues Were 40 Years Older...

Our Winter Classic Weekends series is returning to Saturdays starting with an interesting look for the St. Louis Blues from Chance Waddell. This one is styled after the super-stripey jerseys from the 1920s and '30s — despite the fact that the Blues weren't founded until 1967. Still, it's a neat design that absolutely screams Winter Classic. Maybe in 2014?

0049: A Classic Midwest Match-up

It's Saturday and that means the start of another Winter Classic Weekend, doesn't it? For the moment we'll all pretty Toronto-ed and Detroit-ed out. So let's look beyond 2013? I bet the Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues would make good partners for an outdoor extravaganza — especially, now that the Blues are playing like a good hockey team again. And these two jerseys by frequent IceHL contributor Chance Waddell look fantastic to me. In fact, why do we even need to wait for a Winter Classic to see them? Let's get them on the ice as alternates now!

Chance wrote in the other day to say he revised his Blackhawks Winter Classic jersey to make it "a little less stripey." I think it works both ways. But there you have it.
