0179: A Bruin That Shows Its Teeth

Boston Bruins logos have always been more influenced by their city that their team nickname. Here, Jake Bartal has put together a design with a few more teeth — literally.

And if black and gold doesn't work for you, how about brown as another color option?

0178: Should the Shield Come Back?

Should the New York Rangers bring the shield back to their jerseys? Jack Holmes thinks so.

0177: Four Stripes on the Island

I think this is a very cool and inventive New York Islanders concept by Justin Cox. We haven't seen one quite like this before. I like the stripes but the biggest problem I foresee is in the striping itself. These groups of four stripes were created on a patch for a purpose — to celebrate the club's four Stanley Cups. So what happens if they win another? Change the uniform again? That could get old if the team ever got good. Regardless, I like the anchor. Seems like anchors and lighthouses would be great symbolism for the Isles but they just don't seem to be interested.

0176: San Francisco Sunday, Part 2

Tyler Rodgers has created a beautiful mark, which is exactly why it doesn't belong in the San Francisco Bulls' existing branding. Wouldn't fit in with that primary mark at all. But this is really a great design and I hope someone buys it from him one day.

This is a pretty solid design as well, but it fits better within the Bulls' existing look, especially with the gold gradients. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, though. He's certainly improved upon their look.

And finally, David Streeter shares a few horned intertwined SFs. He hasn't incorporated the Golden Gate Bridge, but they're still decent designs. So what do you guys think of today's set?

0175: California's Winter Classic

This is so silly it almost seems like it should've been posted on a Friday. But then again, if the Panthers think Florida can host a Winter Classic, why couldn't California? Nevill Carney pits the Kings against the Sharks, oddly, instead of the Ducks. But if this really happened, wouldn't we expect much older jerseys? Like the Kings in forum blue and gold? And the Sharks wearing, well, Seals jerseys?

0174: Mixing Eras in Winnipeg

On this Freak Out Friday, we get another blending of brands. This time from Jonathan Tweedle, who has cleverly combined the Winnipeg Jets logo from 1990 with the new one from 2011. And it's definitely freaky. But if the logo isn't enough for you, he's also created a jersey. Alternate, anyone?

0173: Tamer New Logos for Ottawa

Today brings a new set of logos for the Ottawa Senators from Vittorio Fragale. It's a neat set even if the primary mark doesn't look all that menacing.
