0291: Canucks Re-Bourne

Today we have the next installment in Andrew Bourne's NHL makeover series. Here he tackles the Vancouver Canucks but he's done my least favorite thing — he dropped the green.

This was hard because I really love the jersey set and color scheme put in place by the current owners but also really love the old V uniforms that Vancouver used in 80's. So, instead of just mailing it in, I pushed myself to push The Canucks design to the edge of Seizure-Town.

Right away, I condensed the color scheme to two colors. A lot of V's and a lot of colors with make you want to puke. The large striping appears to be cut or broken up to really show that V in the body of the uniform. With that break, you can really see the V and the C work together. The alternate jersey already has a V on the chest so, I made some angled striping along the sleeves and body of the jersey. Why 3 stripes, you ask? Three trips to the Stanley Cup Finals. Would the stripes actually look good on the ice? I'm not sure, but it looks interesting enough on paper - er... computer screen.

0290: An Avalanche of Blue

Ryan Haslett has a pretty unique look for the Colorado Avalanche. The numbers are especially cool.

0289: Stars Within Stars

It looks like we're going to have Dallas Stars concepts here at least once a week. With the team actively looking to rebrand, it makes sense that a lot of what's coming my way revolves around the Stars. Kris Lutes offers up this throwback to the pre-Reebok Edge era and uses the team's AHL affiliate, the Texas Stars for inspiration.

0288: Toronto Varsity Blues

It's Sunday so that means we get another college hockey concept. This one for the University of Toronto comes from Justin Nahhas. It's a pretty sharp look. The Varsity Blues' actual uniforms look a lot more like the Toronto Maple Leafs' by the way.

0287: Waddell's Winter Classic, Part 4

Our weekly Winter Classic series from the Waddell Brothers continues with their next two teams. As chosen by "Indo" last week, we have the Edmonton Oilers and Toronto Maple Leafs. Chance and Jake have created retro-stryle jerseys for all 30 NHL teams. Their series picks up next Saturday.

0286: Football Freak Out

Brian Brideau has been sending in a lot of NFL/hockey fusion concepts lately. You'll get to see a bunch on Super Bowl Sunday. But I couldn't wait until then to share this one. It's a pretty good joke.

0285: Simplifying the Flames

The Flames are another one of those teams that have been getting overlooked lately. Today, we get an interesting design for Calgary from Kevin Dion.
