0178: Should the Shield Come Back?

Should the New York Rangers bring the shield back to their jerseys? Jack Holmes thinks so.

Even though I agree that the shield should make a comeback, the Bruins-style yokes are out of place on a Rangers jersey. You can't cop a conference rival's look. Also, the stitching is gone on the home jersey and some of the away jersey as well, the striping looks awkward on the away jersey, NHL and Reebok logos have disappeared, the trademark was not deleted before being put on the jersey, and there are no TV numbers. That might sound harsh, but you need to do those little things to have a good concept, and everyone needs some constructive criticism every now and then.

I actually like the white one. I think the blue is hideous, the Rangers dark jerseys have been solid blue with red and white stripes for as long as I can remember. It should be kept that way, the red and white shoulder yoke just kills the jersey IMO.

I agree with MRGARISSOn in that the white looks pretty cool but the blue doesn't work so well.

I like the idea, but not the execution. To me, the Rangers sweaters have always just been simple mistaken for classic just because it's been around a long time. Just a logo-less team with a word mark. I would like to see either the shield become a real logo or the Lady Liberty sweaters make a comeback at least as their thirds, but this concept just seems too bright for whatever reason. Darken it a bit, and we might have a winner.

I think that the shield on the white looks amazing. The colors on the blue don't go so well with the shield but i think on the blue the liberty logo would look exceptionally well!
