0008: Back to the 1920s

Yesterday marked the beginning of a new Concepts feature called Winter Classic Weekends. In today's concept, designer Nick Burton takes us back to the 1920s with his suggestion for the 2013 Winter Classic at Michigan Stadium.

Not bad... my only issue is with using a stretched-out Helvetica font for the Wings' uni, which was not what the late-20s Cougars wore at all, nor was it what the Wings wore on their throwback third in the early 90s.

I'm surprised - rather pleasantly, actually - at the lack of lace-up collars. Neck laces are way overdone, they serve no functional purpose on an Edge jersey, and I just find them to be an eyesore. The Red Wings had been one of a handful of teams to have never worn them, up until the 2009 Winter Classic.
