0269: Coming Soon to Brooklyn

If the Stars are the most popular team to design concepts for these days, the Islanders have to be second on the list. There are a lot coming in lately. (In fact, you'll see another one on Friday. A fun one from our buddy Ross Taylor.) But this one by Brendan Klein is asking for a little recognition of Brooklyn — where the Isles will start playing home games in a few years. He's also got a neat set of jerseys which I'm really enjoying, by the way. This is a great kit, even if I don't quite get the secondary logo.

I really like the concept, although the secondary logo could use a little bit of evening, the N is big, the Y is medium and the I just barely fits within the crest. I think if all three were of equal size it would look great!

Agreed, not crazy about the secondary logo. But the Jerseys are nice and simple, don't stray to far from history. Really really nice and clean.

I think the secondary is a tribute to the Brooklyn Americans, because the Isles now play in Brooklyn.

i think the secondary logo may be a homage to the brooklyn americans, but the 4 stars obviously represent the 4 cups the team won. not a bad design overall but i dont see the necessity of a gray strip in the 3rd jersey.

Don't like the gray stripe, but the rest of the jersey concepts are pretty good.
The secondary logo needs some tweaking, though. Again, the concept isn't bad, but the proportions are just too off.

Don't like it but that's cause I don't like any of this. Don't want to see a logo change or anything paying homage to the Americans. We are the Islanders. I don't want to throw out tradition just cause we are getting a new arena in Brooklyn

Was wondering about the whole "Brooklyn not featured on the logo;" looks fixed to me!
Gotta think that they'll bust out a better black third jersey for their inaugural season in BKN...
Perhaps just the NY?

As an Islanders fan, I would hate the idea of changing anything about the jersey. Leave them they way they are. I would not be apposed to adding Brooklyn and Queens to the logo since they are part of Long Island (even if they are NYC boroughs), but that's all they should change.

The problem that I have with this jersey is the stripes on the sleeves and the socks. The Islanders have one stipe of the alternate colors on the sleeves. It is what sets the jersey apart from others in the NHL. Not crazy about the secondary logo; seems to be a homage to the Brooklyn Americans. The Islander jersey works best with a clean shoulder.

Love the updated logo, very subtle yet makes a lot of sense.

Unrelated to the design but can you recommend that submitters use the same template for their jerseys, preferably the one used by the previous concept (268: Retro/Modern Stars). I think it would make the jerseys easier to judge and would give to consistency to the page. This template isn't horrible but some of the other ones have a flat bottom that isn't consistent with the RBK jerseys, while others (like 229, among others) just don't do any justice to the jerseys.
