Bears Unveil Outdoor Classic Jersey

Hershey Bears revealed design online Monday

The AHL's Hershey Bears are hosting hockey's only outdoor game of the 2012-13 season. The Outdoor Classic at Hersheypark Stadium will take place on Sun., Jan. 20, 2013. And just two days ago, the Bears unveiled the special uniform they'll be wearing for that game — complete with white pants and oodles of chocolate stripes!

From the press release:

When the Chocolate and White lace up their skates for the 2013 Outdoor Classic game on Sunday, January 20 they will be wearing commemorative jerseys. The jerseys will be brown and white stripe, and have the Outdoor and 75th Anniversary logos on respective sleeves. These game-worn jerseys will be signed and auctioned off following the game, with proceeds donated to charity.

The Bears will be facing off against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for this game. But I've yet to find the jersey the Pens will be sporting — and you know they'll have one! This is a team that will wear a special sweater just because it's Wednesday. Heck, you need only look back to this past weekend to see them in their Christmas sweaters.

So what's your take on Hershey's Outdoor Classic jersey?

Absolutely hideous. The stripes, the word mark, the bear on the jersey, the white pants, OH GOD THE WHITE PANTS. I wouldn't even let my dog take a dump on these rags.

Firstly, I really do like this jersey and the white pants, I cannot wait to see how it translates on ice, but more importantly this line takes the post to another level "This is a team that will wear a special sweater just because it's Wednesday." Absolutely hilarious, kudos Chris!

Perhaps it will grow on me. Is it inspired by a vintage jersey, or just a fauxback?

It's all about the pants.

I like them! Just a side note though, this is not the only outdoor game this year: Brynas and Timra in the SEL just played an outdoor match: http://www.brynas.se/Nyheter/Bilder-fran-Jubileumsmatchen/

They are NOT wearing white pants, get that correct everyone. Whenever teams have commemorative jerseys, the league and reebok request a full template of socks, pants, and jersey. The Bears always put in the pants, but will ALWAYS wear their traditional chocolate pants (now with vanilla stripes and a logo for once)

Btw, this is a replica of one of Hershey's best jerseys. Maybe not the jersey template itself, which i personnally like the original one, but the script and bear logo is def one of my fav logos. This was when we were affiliated with Colorado

Here's the jersey that this was modeled from: http://www.iwn.fi/~dana/gameworn/thb_helenius_bears.JPG

Trust me, I've gone to every home Bears game since I was born in '95, seen 4 cups won, etc. I know my Hershey facts.

huh, i was just wondering last night if any team has ever worn white hockey pants. and if so, did it look terrible?

Dec 12 · 1:31 PM PST | Unregistered Commenterkurt

Horrific... This had so much potential

Sorry folks, but no white pants. The team said it will wear its usual brown pant shells. The graphic provided by Reebok and posted on HersheyBears.com was not 100 percent accurate. The jersey color shown is more maroon, but the actual one is more in line with the franchise's new dark-brown look.

I'm with You Dave..No wonder the Bear is growling!!

Lack of apron stripes + BROWN = win.

To hersheyjrbears10, no the jersey is not modeled after that jersey, it is a replica of the 1937-1938 Bears, or for those that don't want to do the math, the first season they joined the AHL. It is almost an exact replica, but did not have the white shoulders. Great throw back to the original Bears

KURT - most famous case of a team wearing white pants was the Washington Capitals for a few games at the start of their 1st season. One place pics can be found here: http://caps-strange.blogspot.ca/

Dislike. This is all ready a jersey. I was hoping they would come up with something original for the 75th but i guess not. http://media.photobucket.com/image/recent/cdnuniguy/Jerseys/hersheybears193839.jpg
