Canucks Unveiling Third Tonight?
Thursday . 13 November 2008 . 4:51 PM According to TEAM 1040 AM in Vancouver, the Canucks will be unveiling their new third jersey tonight at 5 PM locally (8 in the east). I have no independent confirmation of this but several readers did email in to say it was mentioned on the radio this afternoon.
So it looks like we'll find out tonight just what the club's new third will look like. Late rumors suggest Icethetics' earlier leak may have been inaccurate but I think that's just wishful thinking. I have multiple sources on that original leak so if we see anything else, I will be more surprised than anybody.

I'd love to see a green jersey in Reebok's NHL but I don't think we're going to get that lucky — at least not this soon.

That didn't take long. We now have official confirmation on the third jersey unveiling from the Vancouver Canucks.
Today's Canucks Report says goalie Roberto Luongo debuted a newly painted mask at practice yesterday that will likely be "a matching set for the Canucks new third jersey, which will be unveiled tonight prior to the Sports Celebrities Festival."
So there it is. Tonight we'll get to see the Canucks' new third jersey and Luongo's new mask, hopefully, with a more prominent "C" on the front. I will have pictures of both tonight here on Icethetics.

The Canucks have posted pictures of Roberto Luongo wearing his new mask on their web site. Looks nothing like the leaked jersey, but it looks fantastic. And the "C" on the side is very prominent.

Short Notice eh? Can't wait to see it, though.
I would love to see the Canucks use a Johnny Canuck logo full time, and have a Stick-in-Rink logo'd third jersey.
If we can't get that done, I'd love to see a re-coloured early 80's V jersey as Team 1040 host Don Taylor often suggests.
I love the green Johnny Canuck V concept sweater! However, what was leaked recently looks extremely sharp. I bet that what the Canucks unveil this evening will be their full-time sweater in 2010-11 and the JC-V logo will be on the front of a future third green sweater, that's similiar to the concept one.
I suspect this to be very similar to what the Sabres did: take a logo that nobody is very fond of and replace it with a great update on the classic 70s look.
They have a pic o Luongo's mask on the Canucks site. It's only a side view, but it looks to be symetrical. The photo is buried in the story. Here's a direct link:

My god, I would love to see my Canucks in that green jersey! But, it looks like your leak will be correct Chris...... why do you have to be so accurate all the time!?

my two cents before it's unveiled (or as it is). It won't be the one leaked. Luongo's mask has navy blue, which would be weird with the royal blue of the jersey. Hopefully we see something different (and not navy).
And I am sure I will eat my words soon.
Yep the leak is dead on, which disappoints me quite a bit, it's the same jersey with a different logo. Boring.

Ugh, what's wrong with you people? The Canucks in green is disgusting. Save green jerseys for the Sharks, Wild and Stars. We're happy with having blue as our primary colour thank you.

Yep, the leaks were correct. The pictures posted here on Icethetics are exactly the same. As a Canucks fan, it appears I'm one of the few that really like them!

The enthusiasm for this jersey concept just goes to show the complete indecisiveness this franchise has for its identity. Good god people, I've seen better colour cohesion in my grandmother's patchwork quilt than in GM Place.
New Canucks jerseys are posted on their website now. Look nice if not predictable. I'd rather have seen Johnny Canuck on the front.
Canucks have a gallery on their site now of the new jersey. Exactly like the leak. I hate to say it but these are kind of...boring? I mean, it's virtually the same color as their home jersey's already, which I think kind of defeats the purpose of a third.

I can't believe they went with that Vashon Cakes design of Johnny Canuck. I like the idea of Johnny Canuck but not that logo.
